What is an industrial enclosure?

Industrial enclosures are the secure & protective type of cabinets. These offer protective qualities & are widely used in industrial places for protecting mechanical & electronic equipment. The enclosures protect against any accidental injuries. Due to their highly secure attributes, these are used for workers. Depending on the kind of requirements, the industrial enclosure manufacturer can prepare it from materials such as steel, Aluminum, platinum, plastics, and stainless steel. 

Types of industrial enclosures

There are many different types of industrial enclosures. These cabinets are classified according to the constructive materials, ratings, and sizes. Some of its widely used types are as follows;

1. Consolet Enclosures

These cabinets contain the front slope in their structure. On these enclosures, there’s a control surface inclined at 60° or 30°. These are mostly used for protecting and keeping the electronic components. Moreover, they are also ideal options for operator control devices. They also secure the push button. 

2. Console Enclosures

These are freestanding enclosures. They come with a top or a sloped front. They are used for mounting the control components. 

3. Rack Enclosures

These cabinets are perfect for the electrical components to be placed in the racks. These are ideal enclosures for keeping and protecting the standard 19-inch components.

4. Modular Enclosures

These modular enclosures are the designed cabinets that can be assembled & organized together. They form the standard or customized types of enclosures.

5. PC Enclosures

As the name indicates, these enclosures are specially prepared for personal computers (PCs). Computers or PCs are essential components in industries. Due to the harsh environmental conditions,  there’s the chance of damage. In order to protect it from harsh elements in an industrial environment, these cabinets are preferable to use. 

6. NEMA and IP

These two are the enclosures that are used for the protection of electronic devices and components. NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) are the cabinets that protect the electronic components/wires from hazardous & non-hazardous environments. These are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

IP (Ingress protection) enclosures are important for protecting equipment from moisture and harsh environments. That’s why if you require any cabinet for a moist environment, it’s preferable to use IP cabinets. IP65 is best for outside environments with high moisture conditions.

7. Junction & terminal boxes

These are rectangular. They are helpful in protecting wiring and electronic components. 

8. Customized Enclosures

These are the enclosures that can be customized according to the features and types. Aside from purchasing off-the-shelf products, it’s always better to get the cabinet right according to your electrical equipment needs. So, these can be according to the correct features & size.

9. Wall Mount Enclosures

These are the cabinets that are easier to install. It can be mounted on the wall easily. Preferably, these are used for devices that are in low power & small applications.

10. Pole-Mounted Enclosures

These cabinets are available in free size. It can be used indoors & outdoors. These can be used for a range of accessories. However, You can’t mount it on the floor or wall.

11. Plastic / Fiberglass / Metal Enclosures

The plastic enclosures are lightweight. It’s easy to install and available in different colors. Metal enclosures are Durable & ideal. These are highly protective against harsh environments. It can be made from carbon Steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Fiberglass enclosures are Durable and of low cost. These are strong and either made up of glass-reinforced plastic or fiberglass-reinforced plastic. 

12. Floor or Surface mount enclosures

The floor enclosure is used to mount on the floor surface. It’s used for the protection of complex equipment. Surface cabinets are highly used in many industries. It can be mounted on the wall or floor.

Enclosures are highly used to protect electronic components or equipment. These cabinets keep materials safe from harsh outdoor environments. There are different types of enclosures. Depending on the indoor and outdoor environments, you can select the perfect cabinet fit. Console, console, Rack, Modular, PC, NEMA, IP, junction, and terminal boxes can be reliable fits for keeping your electrical equipment safe.
